Today’s Scripture: Acts 13:15, NLT- “After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message: “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it.””
We all have words of encouragement. I am hoping we can do as Paul did when asked in Acts 13. Paul simply retold the story of the history of God’s people from the wilderness to Jesus.
Paul made this story personal. He reminded his audience then and to us now that that this message of salvation has been sent to us. As spoken in Acts 13:30, God raised Jesus from the dead for you and me. We are now God’s witnesses.
We too can share the good news. We have a risen savior who will not decay. We can share the same news that Paul shared in Acts 13:38, “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.” We have been set free.
We too can urge others to continue in the grace of God. The more we retell the story of the scriptures, how they promised Jesus, and how they changed us, the more people will gather to hear the word of the Lord. Like Paul and Barnabas, we can speak boldly. Some will reject us, but others will be blessed.
The Lord has made us a light so we may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. As people hear our stories and see our light, more will believe. The word of the Lord will spread one testimony of encouragement at a time.
Some will reject our good news but like Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13:51 we must shake the dust from our feet and move on. We can trust the Lord for His timing and salvation. We will be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit and continue to tell God’s story to all who will listen.
Will we speak boldly the words of encouragement we have today? By God’s grace we can remain faithful.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for giving us everything we need. You are the living God, and I am asking You to help us to remain faithful and share Your Good News. Thank You for choosing us and sending us to retell Your scriptures promising Your Son. Please gather Your disciples to the ends of the earth. Help us to preach boldly about Your salvation and the grace found in Jesus Christ so we may encourage others. Amen.
