Today’s Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:17, NIV- “so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
The Holy Scriptures of God equip us for good. As 2 Timothy 3:16 states, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (KJB)
We learn of God’s commands and desires for us when we search His Word. When we seek God’s daily bread, He is faithful to feed us what we need. As we seek to learn and know God’s instructions for us, He teaches us. Where prayer, life, and God’s commands intersect the Word of God comes alive. Perfect in timing, God’s Word inspires our hearts, souls, and minds.
I have come to believe that we find ourselves in the presence of God and Jesus Christ in the Holy Scriptures. God’s Word speaks to us with what we need to hear exactly when we need to hear it. When we do not turn to His scriptures, we begin to listen to other voices that are not good.
As Hebrews 4:12 teaches us, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (NIV) As Hebrews 10 15-16 promises, “The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First, he says: This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
The Word and voice of God are heard best deep within us. We come to know God’s kindness in the Word of God. We are instructed on how we can be kind to cheer up the hearts of others. We can pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace in the words of the Holy Scriptures.
In our pursuit of God in His Word we find His kindness and we are instructed in kindness. Let us pursue God in prayer and the reading of His word today.
Today’s Prayer: Thank You Father God for Your written words to us. Thank You for writing Your laws on our hearts and minds. Draw us to Your Word so we receive Your teaching, correction, and direction. Thank You LORD for speaking into our hearts as we read the Words You have provided to us through Your servants. Teach us LORD Your kindness so we fully live out what You have fully equipped us to do. In the name of Jesus Christ we do pray, Amen.
