Today’s Scripture: Daniel 10:19, ESV- “And he said, “O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”
Ok, I know this angel in Daniel 10:19 is speaking to Daniel, but I am reminded that God greatly loves us. This is personal. You can replace your name with Daniel’s name here in Daniel 10:19. “O Daniel, greatly loved of God, listen carefully to what I have to say to you.”
This angel, who only Daniel saw in his vision in Daniel 10:6 we are told “His body looked like a precious gem. His face flashed like lightning, and his eyes flamed like torches. His arms and feet shone like polished bronze, and his voice roared like a vast multitude of people.” Now, we may not see this type of vision, but my experience is that God’s love and His communications to us through His Word are just as vivid and impacting.
This angel in 10:19 tells Daniel that from the first day he began to pray for understanding and humbled himself before God, that his requests had been heard from heaven. From our first day our prayers are being heard in heaven and as we seek understanding, confess our sins, and humble ourselves before God, He does appear to us.
Like Daniel, I faint and sometimes fall asleep in the face of God’s glory and plans, but He continues to strengthen me as he touches me and speaks to me. I know God knows exactly what the future holds. When we go to God’s Word, we are awakened to God’s messages for us.
We may or may not have angels appear to us but one thing for certain is that we all have access to the Bible. Just as Gabriel, who spoke in Daniel 9:22, the Bible does speak insight and understanding to us. Because we are greatly loved by God, He sent us Jesus, His Holy Spirit, and His Word to continue to speak to us.
Just as Gabriel spoke in Daniel 9:23, NLT- “The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God. Listen carefully so that you can understand the meaning of your vision.” We are precious to God and as soon as we begin praying, He knows us, and His Word gives us understanding and meaning.
Let us be reminded that God greatly loves us, and we are very precious to Him. He is hearing all our prayers. Let us follow our prayers by reading His Word and we will gain insight into His visions for each of us.
Today’s Prayer: O Lord my God, I have sinned and done wrong. I am thankful for Your great love for me regardless of my actions. As Daniel 9:19 states, I also cry out: “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act!” Thank You LORD for granting us insight and understanding in Your Word. Draw us to prayer and Your Word. Help us to share Your promises. Thank You God for showing Your great love for us in Your Word, Your angels, and Your prophets. I am trusting that You hear me, and I am trusting in You as I pray to You and to read Your Word. Amen
