Today’s Affirmation: I meditate within my heart and my spirit searches diligently for the answers.
In Psalm 77 David is crying out to God for help. He was crying out to God to hear him. Have you ever been there? Ever been frustrated with the silence?
When people say that wow that was “deep”. I always thought that was really a profound “thought”; smart or showed depth of mind power. But the Holy Spirit is showing a new way of thinking this morning. David, the great David I have come to love (that’s a story for another day), said he mused (thought within his head) and his spirit only grew faint. But in Psalm 77:6 where today’s affirmation was harvested he said his HEART mused. Differing translations say meditated or communed within his heart. THEN his spirit inquired.
Interestingly enough his spirit ended up taking him back to remember the deeds and miracles of the Lord. As he meditated on these prior actions and miracles of the Lord he was reminded that yes, indeed He is a God of miracles.
Affirmations have proven themselves to me that they change lives if repeated and mused upon. I just LOVE the translations that state we can commune within our heart and our spirit will diligently search. My first experiences with affirmations of MAN came from the self help movement. You know the classic book of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. An entire industry and entire creation of late night infomercials were created from this process. Although they said the “subconscious mind” would search for the answers. Hmmm, they were not wrong but did not recognize this or acknowledge this as God’s Spirit. We just need to be careful how we use this gift and make sure we are seeking God and not self.
It’s no secret, the answers are in the Book. May we learn to think more, commune more within our hearts instead of our heads. After all, David said all that thinking in our head our hearts will grow faint. But if we talk with, meditate with, and commune with our heart, the Spirit that God placed within us will seek His answers for us. Just try it.
1. Do you have conversations within your heart?
2. In your quiet time can you be still and commune with your heart?
3. Trust in the Lord that His spirit within you will find your answer. What do you want your spirit to find for you today?
Tom
Love this one Tom!
You have a gift.
Velvet, thank you so much for your feedback and support. I am thankful for your gift remark as I am still just kind of trying to do what He is putting on my heart and know it is a passion but unsure of how gifted I may be. I am so thankful that God is taking us down this path and loving just seeking who He is…thanks for joining in!
I’m so glad you talked about the difference between the affirmations of man and the affirmations from/of God. I have something going through my head at all times Tom. If I leave it to chance, it’s usually negative thoughts about all I’m doing wrong in my life. I have to take control or I beat myself up all day long.
When you started putting up the affirmations on FB, it reminded me every day to reign in my reckless thoughts. It gave me something to focus on. Some days, your God affirmation is the very thing God is speaking to me.
Thank you for doing this. Thank you for listening to The Father and reminding me to do the same.
Hugs~
You are my inspiration I cherish your perspective. Your blog was the first blog I ever visited and just love your stuff. Ok, I am not a craftsy guy. But glad you have the light and fluffy stuff to give us a break!! Keep painting and please keep doing what you do and I appreciate more than you know your encouragement!
Being still is not a attribute of mine. However, God is teaching me to rest in his arms.http://patsycostner.blogspot.com/2010/01/be-still.html As I am still he is speaking to me.
As we speak, I am searching for a look for my new website. Robin has been such an inspiration to me. But I am wrestling about this. My designer suggested that I market me. I want to “market” Jesus. I want both men and women to be able to visit my site and God speak to them. I presently have four blogs. I am trying to put the 4 into one. Wish you would take a look and tell me your gut feeling.http://patsyshome.blogspot.com I am seeking Godly advisers, just not sure where to go. At the bottom of the site are samples of the other sites. When patsycostner.com is hosted then I will only be posting to these different categories, so you will see some overlapping while I am under construction.
Thanks for stopping in again patsy. I will check out your new designs. How exciting!
