Today’s Affirmation: I ask God for wisdom in faith and trust He will give it to me abundantly.
Faith, trust, no doubt, confidence in the wisdom from Him. This is easier for some than others. Do you ever fight whether that thought was from God or just your own little voice? This affirmation was harvested from James 1:6 where James says “But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” (NLT). Other translations say have NO DOUBT.
Ok, my heart knows it and I battle my head at times. Was that you God or was that thought mine? Was that your little voice or mine? Let’s back up a second in James. James 1:3 says “testing of your faith develops perseverance.” (NLT), other translations say it develops patience, endurance and it has a chance to grow.
A chance to grow. In James 1:4 he says “So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.” God is still developing me here but I am so thankful for the growth and patience He has given me. I do feel ready for anything…at times. There it is growth and I believe the day is coming that through Him I am ready for anything.
James says go ahead and ask for wisdom and He WILL give it to you and will not resent you asking. Ok God I am asking you for wisdom and I believe with all my heart, mind and soul that you will give it to me abundantly, liberally, freely. Go ahead ask.
James’ real point in our affirmation today is: “But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” EXPECT, NO DOUBT, NO WAVERING. Those words used to scare me. I am growing out of my indecisiveness. Yes, there is growth, patience and perseverance as he promised.
The more mornings I have spent on my knees with God the more confidence I have gotten in His voice. The more I have experienced His wisdom. Keep talking to God, you will feel, hear, see the difference in His voice and yours.
Have faith and expect Him to answer you to give you the wisdom you need. Have no doubt. Expect it. James says if you don’t you will waver and be unstable and will not think he will receive anything from God. Choose to believe today that you have asked for His wisdom He is giving it to you…abundantly, no doubt.
1. God, I am asking you for wisdom today and I believe. What do you need wisdom in today?
2. Do you have a story of when you asked He provided?
3. Can you be bold today and choose to trust the wisdom you received is from God?
Choose today to believe, to trust and receive His wisdom to guide your way and yes it is from Him, you sure? Yes, you are.

I neeeed wisdom today Tom …in 2 areas. I’m going to stop and ask for it. And expect Him to answer. I think my ongoing issue may be doubting what I hear from God.
Today I’m listening and expecting….and “Lord help my unbelief…”

I do not claim to have all the answers but I must respond a quick note. I will make the story short for you will read it in a blog coming up in a few weeks. But I lost my glasses (looked two days) for them. I had prayed God would show them to me. In my distress I was looking under brush, leaves, etc in the yard. I was so pious as I said to God, “I have humbled myself…. confessed my sin….I am trying to be obedient in all my ways…..so heal my land….show me my glasses.” I actually heard Him laugh. “He said, I told you to take your glasses off and put your safeties on when you came out the back door. You said, No I do not need them.” I said, “I did not know that was you, just in my mind.” He said, “If you die to yourself, If I live in you. You will hear only one voice. Mine.” As I write this and reflect again at this lesson, I tremble. But if I live so close to my God that no one can see me without seeing him, then I do not have to be confused at the voices. I only hear His. Oh God, help me each day to surrender my body, mind, and spirit to you.

Robin, I had not read your response when I was writing this. But my experience has also been in doubting it. I have a friend that gives God credit for her own thinking. If it does not align with the scripture….it is not His. It is so good to hear others who are walking this journey. You two are a great team. Do not take your relationship for granted. God is sure working in your lives.
