Today’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:12-13, NKJV- “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?”
God instructed Moses to lead God’s people into their land so that they not only enter it, but they take possession of it. I am always encouraged to know that God has a land for us too. I am also motivated as I realize there is a difference in simply entering the land God has given me and taking possession of it. Like those people in the desert, I am guilty of simply entering my land and wandering around in it for seems like forty years.
So, I am faced with this same question, what does the LORD my God require of me? Over the past three thousand years, the answer from God has not changed. For me to take possession of my land, I must fear the LORD my God, walk in all His ways, love Him, serve Him with all my heart and soul and keep His commandments and statutes.
To truly take possession of our land we need to own it. As we live as God requires us, we can be confident in putting our land to work for God. After all, God has given us this land shouldn’t we live to honor Him out of the thanksgivings and appreciation for being given this gift from God Himself? God sent us here to live for Him.
When we are living first and foremost for God and living every day in recognition of God’s gift to us, we will live fully our purpose. If we are not living on purpose, we are just wandering. Deuteronomy 10:14 reminds us that the “highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to the LORD your God.” (NLT). Everything belongs to the LORD, and we can live today in remembrance of this.
I am here LORD in this land You have sent me. You own it and me and I am living as You require. I only fear You LORD. I am walking in Your ways today and I love You. I am serving You today LORD with all my heart and soul and I am keeping Your commands. Thank You LORD for choosing me for this land.
As Deuteronomy 10:17 reminds us, we are living for the God of gods, the LORD of lords who is mighty and awesome. Why would we live for anyone or anything else? We can praise God for bringing us to where we are today.
God still reaches to us with His mighty arm and hand right here where we are. We can open our own eyes to see all the great things the LORD has done to bring us here and what He is doing today. If we keep our eyes and Hearts on God and obey His every command, He gives us the strength to take over our land.
God cares for us and for this land. So, as we love the LORD our God and serve Him with all our hearts and souls we will be fully satisfied. We must be careful, as Moses warned to live for God and not the gods in the land. Are you taking possession of your land?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for this land You have brought me to. Please forgive me for the years of wandering I have done in this land. LORD I am doing today what You require of me to take possession. I only fear You LORD, I am walking in Your ways today. I love You LORD and I am serving You today with all my heart and soul. Thank You LORD for bringing me here so I can live and love in Your commands. Amen.
