Today’s Scripture: Romans 12:2, NKJV- “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
The proof is everywhere. Conforming to this world does not lead to what is good, acceptable, and of the perfect will of God. We do not need to look far to see what the world produces. Sadness, chaos, and darkness.
Thanks be to God that when we offer ourselves as living sacrifices to God as Paul strongly urges us in Romans 12:1, we are transformed. The grace of Jesus Christ is transforming. When we speak from the grace given to each of us as Paul stated he was doing in Romans 12:3, we join in God’s perfect will with the faith He has given to us.
In Romans 12:4, we are encouraged to be and do our part. We each have a different function and purpose. Comparison and conforming to the world kills, God’s grace and transformation gives life. As Romans 12:5 states, “so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” (ESV)
The body of Christ produces God’s perfect will when we each are looking to God and having Him transforming and renewing our minds and lives. The grace of Jesus has given each of us gifts. As the New King James Version states in Romans 12:6, “let us use them.” As we each use the gifts given to us by the grace of Jesus Christ the world is transformed.
Through Romans 12:6-10, Paul shares a few of the gifts available to us. We should allow God and the grace of Jesus to define our parts. Whatever the grace of God reveals in us we should live it fervently for each other. In fact, Romans 12:11 encourages us to not be slothful as we go about our business, but we must be fervent in spirit and in serving the Lord.
As we live fervently in the Spirit of God serving God and His people, it becomes obvious if we are rejoicing in hope, being patient in tribulation, and being constant in prayer as we are instructed in Romans 12:12. The proof is everywhere. Let us be the proof of God’s transformation.
We can simply serve God and His people as encouraged in Romans 12:13, “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” (NIV) We can share our gifts with those in need today and be hospitable to everyone we encounter today. Let us bless others with the grace we have received.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the grace You have given to us through Jesus Christ. Thank You LORD for transforming us by renewing our minds to look and live out of the grace we have received. Thank You for our individual gifts that You have given us to serve Your body. Help us to live fervently in Your Spirit today serving You and Your people. In the loving Spirit of Jesus Christ, we are praying. Amen.
