Today’s Scripture: Acts 2:17, NIV- “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”
Everyone was amazed on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all people. We are told in Acts 2 that the Holy Spirit filled the whole house where the believers were and that everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit enabled their tongues to speak so that all nations under heaven could hear their own language being spoken. (Acts 2:6). What they were hearing was “the wonderful works of God.” (Acts 2:11, KJB).
When Peter stood to address the crowd, he Quoted Joel 2:28-32 which was recorded by the Prophet Joel approximately eight hundred years before this day. The Holy Spirit of God is still poured out on us today. Like those people on the day of Pentecost we are left asking, at times, “what does this mean?”
Whether 800 or 3000 years ago, in any place, and in any language the promise of our God in these words stand true. “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” Let us call out together on the name of the LORD today. It is still the LORD that restores our people and nations.
The more we study God’s word and speak from the Holy Spirit the more others will hear what they need about the wonders of God that save our souls. Peter also spoke the words of David in Psalm 16:8-11 to those in attendance. Did Peter remember these verses for this impromptu speech or did the Holy Spirit flow through Him to give the people what they needed to hear?
As David promised, as we keep our eyes on the LORD, He will show us the path of life. In the presence of the LORD and His Holy Spirit we find the fullness of joy and the hope of His eternal pleasures. God raised Jesus to life, and He raises us to live with and for Him as well.
Our scriptures today from Joel and Acts promise that God poured out His Spirit on all people. I am praying and calling out to God now that we all live out of the Holy Spirit He has poured out on us. Let us speak the words the Holy Spirit gives to us so all people will know the saving grace of our Lord, Messiah, and Savior Jesus Christ.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, we are calling out to You and praising You for the presence of Jesus Christ and Your Holy Spirit. Thank You LORD for filling our homes and our lives with Your Spirit and Your words. Use us LORD to share You amazing love and words that give hope, joy, and eternal pleasures. Thank You for hearing our cries Heavenly Father and thank You for pouring Your Spirit out on us. Fill us today Holy Spirit so we speak the languages that the people we meet will understand in their own language. Amen.
