Today’s Scripture: Psalm 5:3, NKJV- “My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.”
One day at a time we come to know God. When we give God our first and best words and attention in the morning, we set our days on the right course. When we seek God’s face, He sees ours.
I am reminded of Matthew 7:23 when Jesus said, “I never knew you; depart from me.” I want to make sure Jesus knows me. I am reminded of yesterday’s reading where we were told to be persistent in going to God in prayer like the widow to the judge in Luke 18:1. God, You shall hear my voice in the morning.
No matter what else may happen today, the LORD has heard my voice and I have looked up to Him. This reminds me of David’s heart and passion in Psalm 27:4, NIV that states “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
As I lay in bed, or I am on my knees I am lifting my voice and my eyes to the LORD first thing in the morning. In God’s light I feel safe and in the right place. Regardless of what happens today the LORD knows He has received my first fruits and my greatest desire. The world throws a lot at us, and they will forget us as soon as we leave the building. Who are we living to be remembered by?
We can live for lasting impressions today. God knows I am nothing without Him and He knows I am coming to Him with nothing but my honor and desire to live with and for Him. Humbled before the LORD, when we look to Him, we witness the glow of love and welcome the warmth of fearlessness. We do not fear what anyone else can do to us. We only fear God.
No matter what happens today, God has heard my voice and seen my face. He fills my heart, and He knows my desires. He is also teaching me His. We can feel what David was feeling in Psalm 5:7, “But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.” And the next verse Psalm 5:8, NKJV- “Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.”
He sees our face because we are looking up towards the warmth of His light and seeking His ways and lifting our praises to Him. Psalm 5:11 sounds like where I want to live, “But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.” I am rejoicing in God out of my love for Him and His love for me.
As Psalm 5:12 promises we can live today surrounded by the shield of God’s Favor. We can live there by beginning our days with the lifting of our voices and eyes upon the LORD. Will the LORD hear your voice in the morning?
Today’s Prayer: My voice shall You hear in the morning O LORD. I am directing my voice and my gaze upon You Father God. Upon You I place my hope and my confidence. In You alone do I fear. In awe and amazement, I live in Your house today and gaze upon Your beauty. May others see your light reflecting from my face so they too may know You and You know them. Hear my voice Father God and know me as I live to glorify You today. Thank You for surrounding me with Your shield of favor. Amen.
