Today’s Scripture: Nahum 1:7, NKJV- “The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.”
I am thankful the LORD is slow to anger as Nahum wrote in Nahum 1:3, “The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” (ESV)
At the end of the day or this life, I want God to know me. In the various translations of Nahum 1:7, we are told that the LORD cares for, is close to, protects, and knows those who trust Him. We can control our trust so why would we trust in anything or anyone more than the LORD? We should not.
I want to live in the light of God and never be an enemy of God who we are told in Nahum 1:8 that “darkness will pursue His enemies.” (NKJV) Nahum was writing to warn the people of Nineveh which was located, scholars believe, in modern day Mosul, Iraq and to encourage the people of Judah, also known as Judea, which is modern day Israel.
Nahum lived in a dark time when many people of Judah were worshiping and trusting idols. His prophesy was to encourage the remnant of God’s people to trust the LORD. He was also assuring these people that God’s judgment would come upon those who had oppressed them. We can still choose to trust the LORD today over those things and people that oppress us.
The battles of good and evil still ongoing. I am praying we continue to be God’s remnant and trust in Him and not His enemies. Nahum 2:13 reminds us that God is against His enemies. We do not want God and His power against us. We want God to know us and our love and trust of Him in the face of life’s battles.
We cannot solve the world’s problems, but we can trust in the LORD. In the face of all our enemies we can choose to trust God, take our refuge in His stronghold, and know Him and His power will judge His enemies.
Will you trust the LORD today?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, God of heaven, I trust You. Thank You for being slow to anger with me. You LORD are my stronghold, and I am running to You for refuge. I pray to always be in the remnant that trusts and glorifies You Father God. Guide us LORD and protect us from our enemies. I am praying that You know me and my trust and faith in You. Thank You for the encouraging words of Your prophets when we need them most. In You alone LORD, do I trust. Amen.
