Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:1, KJB- “Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,”
How do we define and live our lives? Are we living out God’s will for us? As Paul introduced himself in 1 Corinthians 1:1, He made sure the church knew he was writing to them out of God’s will for him. We can do what we do today out of God’s will for us too.
We can ask for God’s will, or we can simply act on the will we already know is from Him. At some point we must act instead of asking. How many times can we ask, are you sure, LORD? Instead of asking if this is God’s will we can act on the will God Himself has placed in us.
At some point, we must act in faith. Faith in God’s will and not our abilities nor confidence. Confidence and faith in God and His calling are our strength and credibility. As 1 Corinthians 1:2 states, we are sanctified by Christ Jesus and called to be His holy people. Sanctified means to be set apart. You and I have been set apart from this world and called to be God’s holy people.
Do you know God’s calling and His will for you? What sets you apart from everyone else? What do you have or do that seems out of line with everyone else yet in line with God’s will and calling. How can you help the most people? What do you have to give to your brothers and sisters?
Out of our love and commitment to God’s calling we are equipped to be used by God. God alone is holy and since we are set apart to be holy, we are set apart to be His and used by Him. Let our faith not be in our holiness but in the holiness of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
What comes natural to you? What do you do that seems to make time fly by and the cares of the world subside? How do you best show God’s love toward all others, our neighbors? Where have we experienced the most grace and peace that we can offer to this world? As we thank God for His grace, we can offer our thanksgivings to others.
As 1 Corinthians 1:5 states as fact, we have all been enriched in the LORD with Speech and knowledge that confirms our testimony of how Jesus Christ saved us. Therefore, we do not lack any spiritual gifts as promised in 1 Corinthians 1:7. Do we hear and believe that right now? We already have the speech, knowledge, and spiritual gifts RIGHT NOW to live out God’s will of His calling upon our lives.
God promised that He will confirm who we are in the eyes of others 1 Corinthians 1:8. The following verse 1 Corinthians 1:9 reminds us that God is faithful. We are not guaranteed tomorrow so we should live in God’s faithfulness today. As we live in God’s faithfulness, we are found to be faithful.
I am flat out a procrastinator. For years, I have been told that I know what to do, I just need to do it. Why don’t I? Do I allow fears, doubts, and indecision rule my life or will I allow God’s calling and will to rule my life today? I began today’s writing by asking for God’s will. God reminded me that I know His will for me and I just need to live it today. How about you?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for Your will and for setting us apart to be Your holiness. Help us to act on Your will for our lives today. May we be bold in our calling and confident that You have already given us the speech, knowledge, and spiritual gifts to share Your grace, peace, and holiness. In You LORD we place our faith, hope, and actions. In the name of Jesus Christ, our savior, we do pray and live. Amen.
