Today’s Scripture: Revelations 2:7, NLT- “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.”
The more we tune our ears to listen to the Spirit, the more we hear and understand. I am praying now for all of us that we have the ears to hear and that we listen to the Spirit of God. John repeated this call seven or more times in the first three chapters of Revelations.
In Revelations 1:10, John wrote “On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.” I have often wished to hear the LORD sound like a trumpet. Most times the voice of the Spirit resounds from within.
Revelations 2:7 promises, ““Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God.” (NLT) When we are in the Spirit, we hear God’s Spirit, receive His fruits, and experience His paradise.
We can ask the Spirit to give us ears to hear and to provide God’s fruits to us from the tree of life. We do receive our daily bread as Jesus taught us to pray and as John writes in Revelations 2:17, “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna.”
When we are in the Spirit and listen to the Spirit God feeds us. Revelation 2:23 states that God searches our hearts and minds. We must repent of what God finds. When we turn away from our sins and seek God we come to know and hear His Spirit.
I am thankful to know as Revelations 3:8 declares that Jesus has opened a door for us that no one can close. When we walk through God’s door and leave the ways of Satan behind, we experience God’s love for us.
We must humble ourselves and confess that we are “wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked” without God as stated in Revelations 3:17. (NKJV). We are reminded in Revelation 3:19 that “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” (NIV) When we repent and turn to God we find His love, Spirit, and the promise of Revelations 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Jesus is here, His Spirit is here. Let us swing open the door and invite Him in to eat and dwell with us. Lord Jesus, please give us the ears to hear Your Spirit today and open the doors You wish for us to enter.
Are you listening to the Spirit?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and Your Holy Spirit. Forgive me LORD for when I am not listening. I repent LORD and I am turning to Your door and answering Your knock. Please give me the ears to hear Your Spirit. Teach me to live in the Spirit. Thank you for our manna from heaven. Please come in and eat with us and direct us with Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ, we do pray. Amen.
