Today’s Scripture: Mark 5:19, ESV- “And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
What has Jesus done for you? How has He shown you mercy? Jesus had just cleansed the man with many demons and the man wanted to go with Jesus. However, Jesus had another plan.
Jesus told the man called Legion to go home to his people and tell them how much the Lord had done for him and how Jesus had mercy on him. If each of us did the same this world would be amazed as Mark 5:20 states, “So the man went away and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed.” (BSB)
Instead of preaching at others about how they should live, we can preach what Jesus has done for us. As we share our own stories with our own people the world is directed to Jesus, one testimony at a time.
Our stories spread the seeds of the Kingdom of God. In Mark 4:3 Jesus said in His parable of the sower, “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow.” Let us listen and let us sow. As Mark 4-8 describe, some seeds are immediately taken away and some do take root for the right time. We can trust God with His harvest.
As Mark 4:26-32 reminds us. The Kingdom of God is brought to this world by us planting seeds. I love Mark 4:27 which always reminds us that we must only plant the seeds and things happen whether we are awake or asleep that we cannot comprehend.
Let us plant the seeds of our stories where we are today.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus and Your Word. Thank You Jesus for teaching us. Thank You for what You have done for me Lord. Thank You for Your great mercy. I am praying to cast the seeds of my story that shares what Jesus has done for me and the great mercy He has given to me. I am also praying that these seeds of Your Kingdom produce the harvest You intend. May Your kingdom come heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus Christ we do pray, Amen.
