Today’s Scripture: Matthew 8:15, ESV- “He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.”
How often do we ask Jesus what we can do for Him? Out of our gratefulness for Jesus touching us we can rise and begin to serve Him. Jesus thank You for meeting us here, for touching us, and for allowing us to touch You.
In three of the Gospels, we read of the story of Jesus turning to the blind men who were crying out to Him, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” and Him calling out to them “What do you want Me to do for you?” (Matthew 20:32, Mark 10:51, Luke 18:41) Also, in John 1:38, Jesus asked John’s disciples who were following Him, “what do you want?”
As I looked into Jesus’ face this morning it crossed my mind, when was the last time I asked Jesus, “what can I do for You?” Matthew 8:15 provides us with an answer. We can simply rise and serve Him. How? Look around and follow God’s Spirit within us. We will see opportunities to serve and do.
Earlier in Matthew 8:2, the person with leprosy said to Jesus, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” (NKJV). In the next verse 8:3, tells us “Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Jesus is willing and we can be willing to reach out and touch people for Jesus immediately too. What do you want me to do for You, Jesus? Let us act immediately on the answers we perceive and receive.
For certain, we can serve Jesus just as the leper did in Matthew 8:4. We can offer our gifts as a testimony of Jesus touching us. We can bring people to Jesus so He can heal them too. Let us have faith in Jesus, spend time with Him, and serve Him.
Let us ask; Jesus how can we serve You today?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank You for coming to us and touching us. Thank You for Your healing touch that saved us. Please reveal how we can serve You and our neighbors today. Use our gifts Lord to bring others to You that need healing. Thank You LORD for revealing Yourself to us and reaching out to us. Use us as a part of Your body today to share Your light, love, and care. In Your healing touch we do pray. Amen.
