Today’s Scripture: John 15:12, KJB- “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
During Jesus’ last supper with His apostles, He left them with a command. Love one another as I have loved you. Let us affirm to do just that. Only with Jesus can we love like Jesus.
This is too much love for us to comprehend. Yet, we gladly accept it and receive it. Let us just as gladly and joyfully show the kind of love to one another we have received. Jesus, thank You for Your love and light in our lives. Help us to live and love with You.
As Jesus explained in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV) Apart from Jesus, we simply cannot love like Jesus.
However, as John 15:7 promises “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” So, as we stay close to Jesus and keep His words, we can ask to love as He loved, and it will be done for us. We can do this! Let us ask and love each other now.
Our words are shallow but Jesus, His commands, Spirit, and love are deep and abiding. As He told His apostles and us in John 15:9, “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.” Let us abide in Jesus’ love today.
We find complete joy in the love of Jesus, in fact as John 15:11 promises, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” Putting all other things aside today let us remain in Jesus’ love and joy and speak it to others to so that their love and joy may also be full.
Will you live and give Jesus’ love and joy today?
Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for loving us. Help us Lord to love as You love. Thank You Lord for coming to earth in the flesh to teach us Your love and to leave us with Your Spirit of love. Keep us close Lord Jesus. Help us to keep Your commands and to love as You and the Father love so that all others may experience Your fullness of joy. In Your name we do pray. Amen.
