Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:1 NLT: Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.
Oh, I wish this were true. I pray to imitate God in everything I do. I affirm to imitate God in everything I do.
To imitate God I must watch His every move. If I look to myself or to others I imitate things not of God. I want to live a life filled with love as Jesus showed love. Because Jesus sacrificed Himself for us He produced a pleasing aroma to God.
We can produce this pleasing aroma too, can’t we? Yet, when our minds and hearts imitate anything else, well, it can just stink to high heavens as we say here in the south. Sexual immorality, impurity or greed has no place for God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for us. Instead, Paul instructs us here in Ephesians 5 to focus on thankfulness to God.
We are God’s dear children, who will we imitate? Will we focus our thankfulness towards God today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I confess I do not always imitate You. I do LORD desire above all other things to imitate You. Help me to turn my mind, heart and soul to thankfulness to You. Help me to sacrifice myself for others and produce a pleasing aroma to You. I love You LORD and pray to offer the love of Jesus to everyone in everything. Amen
