Today’s Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:6 ESV; Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.
We have a comforter. Will we be still long enough to find this comfort? Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:1that the people had no comforter, but He also tells us we will find our comforter in the quietness.
We can toil and strive and find we have no comfort. Prior to coming back to this verse today I was having a quiet time with God that was being hijacked by the multitude of racing thoughts about those things in which I toil.
Yet, it was good to give up on my thoughts and trust in His quietness. I definitely found comfort in being with Him and trusting His communion with my spirit. Giving up striving after the winds of this world and lying quietly before Him I found in my nothingness, I find His everything.
For whom do we toil and deprive ourselves of God’s pleasure and comfort?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my comforter. Thank You for revealing Yourself in the quietness of being with You. LORD, You know all eternal things and I trust you over the tyranny of the urgent and the vanity of striving after the winds of this world. Thank You for showing Your love in the quiet. Amen
