Today’s Scripture: Luke 1:45, NKJV- “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”
Believing the Lord simplifies our lives. Our minds can race and be clouded at times. Our greatest blessings come when we simply believe God and believe He fulfills what He speaks.
In Luke 1:3, Luke stated that he was attempting to write an orderly account of what he had witnessed in Jesus. He explained an encounter in Luke 1:45 where Elizabeth was encouraging Mary.
Can you imagine the thoughts racing through Mary’s mind as she wondered how she would ever explain, much less fulfill, being the mother to the Son of God as the angel Gabriel just informed her? Mary was led to Elizabeth who was six months pregnant with John the Baptist. Mary went immediately to find that Elizabeth was preparing her way just as John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Jesus.
To find our way we can speak as Mary in Luke 1:38. “I am the Lord’s servant,” “May your word to me be fulfilled.” (NLT) Instead of worrying about where, when, and how we can serve God, we can simply believe Him.
Do you believe that God’s word will be fulfilled in you? I do not know if the angel Gabriel is still making house calls, but I do know God still speaks. We can hear God through the words recorded in scriptures, such as Luke’s, through the same Holy Spirit we are told filled Elizabeth in Luke 1:41, and through other people God has brought into our lives to prepare our ways.
When our souls know before our heads believe we most often know we are where the LORD has prepared for us. As Mary stated in Luke 1:46-47, “My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (NIV), we too can experience God in our souls and spirits so we can believe.
Where do your soul and spirit find the joy of our LORD? Believe Him.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking to us through Your mighty ways. Thank You LORD for those who You have sent to us. Thank You LORD for Your Word that speaks. Thank You LORD for filling our souls and spirits with Your glory and joy. Show us where to go LORD to serve You and Your people. In the Spirit of Jesus we do pray, Amen.
