Today’s Scripture: Judges 2:12, NKJV- “and they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the LORD to anger.“
The purpose of these affirmations is for us to continue to imprint the nature and the character of God into our hearts and into who we are. We can learn from our errors and the errors of others.
Just as in the times of Judges, today we get away from remembering what God has done for His people. Much of this generation and even fewer in the next remember what God has done. We must be careful not to follow the various gods of the people around us as well as following our natural tendencies. Like the people we read about in Judges, we continue to be a stubborn people.
We can quickly forget what the LORD has done for us. We can quickly turn away from His promises and seek the immediate gratification of our flesh and our surroundings. We have a choice today and every day. Do we decide to stay with the LORD and seek Him or do we forsake Him and follow other gods.
We also have an obligation to tell the next generation of what God has done for his people. Just this morning I heard about the curriculums of our school systems that are teaching the opposite of God’s Word and will. We have allowed God to be removed only for many evil gods to be allowed and promoted.
We should not worship or bow to any other gods or traditions. We must constantly come to God’s Word to be taught and then we must teach and remind the next generation what our LORD has done and what He will continue to do. Our LORD will never forsake us, and we can help each other to never forsake Him. We can take every opportunity to teach the next generation of everything God has done for His children.
Let us remember that just as in the times of the Judges that the LORD is with us. The LORD goes before us, and the LORD is peace. Will we stay with Him and be obedient to His commands today?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, I believe You are with me as You have promised. I am praying to be obedient to Your commands. Thank You for hearing my cries and for going before me to defeat my enemies. Forgive me for my sins and for when I am weak in my flesh or allowing other gods to surround me. LORD, save us from our enemies. LORD, help us to keep Your ways. LORD You alone rule over me and I choose to only follow and worship You. LORD clothe me in Your Spirit and instruct me on how I am to live my life and my mission in this land You have given me. Amen.
