Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:37, NIV- “When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
Paul shared in 1 Corinthians 15 that he was giving away what he had received in Christ. Shouldn’t we give away what we have been given? According to the Scriptures, Christ died for our sins so we can give others His salvation and the scriptures.
Jesus Christ was crucified for us and on the third day He rose from the dead. Jesus was raised so that we would be raised with Him. Although we feel like Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 that we are not deserving, we know that by the grace of God, “I am what I am.”
It is God who gives life the seeds of who we are in Him. As Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 3:7, “So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (NIV) God guarantees splendor in 1 Corinthians 15:40. Whether our seeds grow into heavenly bodies or earthly bodies, God gives life to all.
Even as illogical as it may seem, as 1 Corinthians 15:43 promises “Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.”
Our seeds of brokenness and weaknesses are raised in the strength and glory of Christ. It is God who raises our seeds to give hope and life to others. Our natural bodies are raised into spiritual bodies. As 1 Corinthians 15:45 promised “The Scriptures tell us, “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” But the last Adam—that is, Christ—is a life-giving Spirit.” (NLT)
The seeds of Christ provide a life-giving Spirit to those who believe in our risen Christ. These are the seeds we have been given to pass along. As promised in 1 Corinthians 15:51, “we will all be changed.” What was perishable becomes imperishable. What was mortal becomes immortal. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says it all “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Our call to action is 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
Our labor is to cast the seeds of Christ we have been given. Will you give away the seeds you have been given today?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for our risen savior, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the seeds of grace that were planted in our lives. Help us to plant the seeds of the new life we have been given. We are trusting You LORD to give life and body to our seeds. Thank You, Father God, for the seeds of our mortal lives that grow into immortal and unperishable Spiritual lives. Strengthen us to labor and give away what we have been given. In Christ’s risen name we do pray. Amen.
