Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 10:23, NLT- “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
Although I was introduced to positive affirmations in a selfish and secular way, God took my weaknesses and longings to prove that affirming constantly does change who we are. Many years after experiencing the effectiveness of affirmation, God promised me that every affirmation I would ever need would be found in His Word.
Fifteen years later, I only believe this more today. As Hebrews 4:12 promises, I am finding that the Word of God is alive, active, and powerful. Even today, the Holy Spirit helps us hear the voice of Jesus Christ in God’s Word. Hebrews 3:7, NKJV states “Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice.” Yes, today, we can hear God’s voice.
Going to God’s Word and searching for His promises to affirm we do hear Him. God does speak and the Holy Spirit assures we hear. We learn that through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ we are being made holy. As we turn our hearts and minds towards God as we read in Hebrews 3:10 we enter God’s rest.
We can rest assured that God’s Word is speaking to us, instructing us, and changing us. We are being changed to be made holy. As we affirm His Word, promises, and commands we come alive and learn that God can be trusted to keep His promises.
Hebrews 3:13, NIV states “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Daily we can encourage each other. Daily we should go to God’s Word and seek Him and His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is faithful to guide us to the right words we need for that day.
Yes, we can hold tight to God’s Word and the hope we find there. We can affirm His promises if it is called today. Today God speaks. God provides the words we need. As we turn daily to God and His Word, we learn the reality of Hebrews 8:10, NIV- “This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
As we affirm His hope and Word they are engraved into our minds and hearts, and we come to know we are His. Let us encourage each other daily.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. I am holding tightly and affirming Your promises. Thank You, LORD for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who forgave my sins forever. Thank You, Father God for Your Holy Spirit who helps to put Your laws into our minds and who writes them on our hearts. Help us to encourage each other daily as long as it is called today. Amen.
