Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 1:3, NIV- “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
I have found that when we invite Jesus to pray with us, we will experience His presence. When we seek God and His Holy Spirit’s direction and we are dropped to our knees before Him, the light of God is real. I came here this morning to re-visit an old post as I am going back to the beginning of my journey to re-create in my life this journey God has brought me so I can leave this path on earth before I leave this earth. I once told my children that this is the only inheritance, they will receive from me. This is all I have.
However, true to God’s glory., I stepped back away from my computer to go and kneel before God as it was impressed upon me to do. Praying the prayer that Jesus gave His apostles, I could feel the warmth of God’s light upon my skin. As I rose and came back to the Word, instead of going to Hebrews 12 where I planned to be, I started at Hebrews 1:1 to make sure I had the proper context of the daily bread I ask God to give me for his sheep.
Here in Hebrews 1:3, I realized as I prayed with Jesus this morning, I was feeling His radiance of God’s glory because He knew in advance, I would read this verse. I am here to share that we, as God’s children, will receive the glory of God if we continue to come and humble ourselves before Him. The Creator God who Jesus was with in the beginning is shining down from Heaven. We experience God in natural and unnatural ways.
Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory, and He is shining down on us. This is not a hot flash or an overactive imagination. God’s light is a warming, protecting, and promising light in a dark and hopeless world. Regardless of where we are we can drop to our knees and seek God and He will radiate upon us. Theologians debate who wrote this letter of Hebrews but whoever it was does not really matter. What matters is that they were sharing their experience and knowledge that Jesus radiates God’s glory upon us.
Thousands of years ago this writer knew God’s radiance. We can know it today because Jesus has already purified us and purged our sins. Unburdened, we can choose to kneel before the throne of God and bowed before Him we can feel and see His radiance. I cannot explain it but, like the writer of Hebrews, we can share our experiences. We did not walk with Jesus, but we can walk with Jesus.
We were created to worship Jesus and along with the angels of God we can worship Him. In Hebrews 1:7 we are told “In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” (NIV) As His servants, we can fan the flames and share the fire of God. The throne of God is forever so this light and radiance emanating from His throne is forever.
As we turn to the throne and pay careful attention, our God is faithful. We receive His joy and gladness. The hands that made the heavens made us and we were all created to live in communion with God’s radiant glory. God still testifies by signs, wonders, and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will as the writer of Hebrews promises in Hebrews 2:4.
As we continue, day after day to show up before the throne of God and His Glory, His miraculous light does shine upon us, and we may miraculously feel it. Are you kneeling before His throne?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the radiance of Your Glory. Thank Your LORD for Jesus and Your Holy Spirit who continue to meet with us and radiate Your love upon us. Lord Thank You for Your daily bread of Your kingdom and will. Help us to share the light You have given each one of us. Thank You, Jesus, for purifying us and showing us Your ways. In Your Light LORD we are a living hope of Your glory. Amen.
