Today’s Scripture: Job 1:20, NKJV- “Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped.”
Job was under attack. Messenger after messenger came to tell him of disasters that had come upon his possessions and his family. Job was being told he has lost it all. What did Job do? Here in Job 1:20 we are told he fell to the ground and worshipped.
In the face of our disasters and grief, we too can fall to the ground and worship God. As Job 1:21 states, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.” (NKJV)
Even in Job 2:13 when Job’s friends came to check on him, “they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him because they saw how great his suffering was.” Sometimes we must sit silently in worship and support. We do not have the words that provide comfort, but our presence and silent worship is all that is needed.
Sometimes we only need a hug to know we are not alone. Do not be afraid to offer your presence in the lives of those who are obviously suffering. In our presence and in our silence, we can offer up hugs, support, and worship from our LORD.
LORD, we trust You. We may be in a dark and painful place, yet we will fall to the ground and worship You. Thank You LORD for the friends You bring into our lives to be with us during our storms. In You LORD we trust. Blessed be Your name regardless of what we face today. You LORD have ordered our days, and we trust You and worship You in all of them.
Will we be present with someone who needs our worship and presence today? Will you trust that God is bringing to you others who will sit in the dirt with you?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, LORD God, I am falling upon the ground and worshipping You. LORD, I am trusting You in all challenges and hardships I face. You are my LORD, and I am trusting that You brought me into this world, and You will be with me as I depart. I am praying to worship You in all things and in every day. Thank You for the friends You have brought into my life to support me, and I am praying now to be Your support for others with my presence and worship of You for them. In the mighty name of Jesus, I do pray. Amen.
