God knows we are where we are for such a time as this.
Today’s Scripture: Esther 4:14, NKJV- “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
In Esther 4:14 Mordecai was challenging Esther with a rhetorical question. Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? God knows. Our walk with God can be challenging, yet who knows whether we have come into the Kingdom of God for such a time as this? God orchestrates our paths and the paths of His people.
Esther could never have dreamed of her life. When she was orphaned, Mordecai, her deceased father’s uncle, became her guardian. The king, angered by the current queen’s rebellion, brought in Esther among others and she found favor in him because of the favor of God.
Most times we do not see God coming either. God has His ways of getting us right where He wants us. Who knows if we are where we are right now because God is calling us to action for His Kingdom? I know God got me to Esther.
On Sunday afternoon I was listening to a sermon that appeared on Facebook. Quite frankly I have not cared for this Preacher over the years. However, he was speaking at a Pastor’s church I do respect, so I listened. He spoke of the power of a three day fast and I believe that a google search on fasting took me to Esther.
Strangely, on Monday I found myself in Esther. I deleted Esther from my writing. Yet, here, three days later I found myself drawn back to Esther. God was not finished.
How God gets us to where He wants most often makes no sense to us. Some refer to this as synchronicity which is defined by the Merriam Webster Dictionary as “the coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events (such as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.”
This definition was obviously written by someone who does not recognize that they have experienced God. This world will always rationalize these events with human understanding. God is not conventional. When we turn to God, we come to find that it is God who orchestrates these events for the protection of His people.
“Coincidences,” random encounters, and even more random thoughts during our prayers can serve to get us exactly where God wants us to be. I am trusting God has me right where He wants me to send letters of peace and truth just as we are told Mordecai did in Esther 9:30.
I am NOT comparing myself to Mordecai, but I do feel His sense of urgency and commitment to sending these letters to those God intends. Does God need us? No. Esther 4:14 clearly points out that God will get someone to act if we will not.
Please consider where you are today. Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? We can trust God and His ways.
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for welcoming us to tell of the riches of Your glorious kingdom and the splendor of Your excellent majesty. I am thankful for those who encourage us and even call us out to do what You have called us to do. LORD, I am trusting You and Your ways. If we are working for the relief and deliverance of Your people, I know we are in the right place. Use us LORD to do Your will and witness Your riches of care and protection. Although we may not see the way, we can see You and we are joining to pray for the wisdom and courage to act upon Your calling. Help us LORD to do what You have brought us here to do. In Your mighty and glorious name we do pray.
