Today’s Scripture: Romans 8:31, KJV- “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
I can be my own worst enemy and quickly become someone I do not even like. My feelings and emotions can make me lose sight of God. I am thankful we can turn back to God and His Spirit just as quickly. God is pulling for us and calling for us to turn our hearts, minds, and souls to Him.
Romans 8:30 tells us who God is for. “And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” (NLT) How do we know if God has chosen us? Are we reflecting His glory?
In Romans 8:27 we are told that “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” (NIV) When we find ourselves in our own heads we can turn to the mind of the Spirit of God. We do not need to search for God, He is already searching us.
The promise of Romans 8:28 is always a comforting scripture filled with hope and the promise of God. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (NKJV) Do You love God? If so, you are called.
Romans 8:19 tells us that “the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” This world and God are waiting for us, His children, to offer His glory. Romans 8:21 encourages us in that “the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.” God is for us to live in our calling to make known His glorious freedom.
As we love God, welcome His Spirit into our hearts, seek to be who He has called us to be, no one can stop us. Thank You God for giving us Your Son, I am giving You, my heart, mind, soul, and strength. Thank You for promising to give us all things You have placed in our hearts. Because You are first in our hearts You justify us.
Romans 8:34 gives us hope and confidence. “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (NKJV) With God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ interceding for us we will come to know and complete our calling.
When we cry “Abba, Father” as Romans 8:15 proclaims we declare ourselves children of God in a personal and intimate way. This is where we find how God is for us. Romans 8:14 is pointing us in the right direction, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (NIV) Romans 8:13 prepares us for today, “For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Let us live by the Spirit today.
When we sense our flesh taking over, we can cry out to our Heavenly Father to bring us back into His Spirit. We can do this because God is for us.
Today’s Prayer: Our Father in Heaven, thank You for Your Spirit and Your Son Jesus Christ who are interceding for us so we can live today as Your children. Abba Father, we love You. Help us, LORD, to live in Your Spirit and to turn away from our flesh. Please forgive us LORD for when we live according to the flesh instead of Your calling. Search our hearts O LORD and have Your Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, live in us so we know You and Your calling upon our lives. Thank You Christ Jesus for living in us and interceding for us. Amen.
