Share the post "Father God, please help me bring You glory by completing the work You have given me to do."
Today’s Scripture: John 17:4, NKJV- “I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.”
You and I can do what Jesus did in John 17:1. We can look toward heaven and pray to our heavenly Father. Jesus had just finished speaking to His disciples about how they could find peace in this world by placing their hearts with Him because He has overcome this world.
With all the commotion and demands of this world we are at our best when we are being and doing the work God has given us to do. When we look toward heaven and align our hearts with God we find peace.
In our present age of information, social media, and constant connection to technology we have many voices fighting for our attention. Yet, studies show that loneliness is an epidemic in today’s world. We have more access to people but less personal connection.
John 16:32 provides the cure for loneliness. Jesus knew that someday He would be left alone by all other humans. He stated to His disciples, “yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” Alone with God the Father, we find peace. In addition to peace, we find purpose. As we look towards heaven we acknowledge and know God.
Thank You God for giving us this life. Help us LORD to live it for You. As Jesus stated in John 17:7, we too can say “Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You.” All that we have was given to us from God.
I am praying to give all that I have to God. I am also praying to complete what God created me to do. Whether you believe God sent you here to earth or not, it is vital whether You believe God sent Jesus Christ here or not. As we lift our eyes to heaven, we can pray for God to protect us with His power and to bring us into relationship with Him.
I am thankful for the life and prayers of Jesus that allow us to have His joy fulfilled in us as Jesus stated in John 17:13. When our hearts are connected with God in heaven, He protects us from the evil one who rules the earth. We have been sent into this world to be set apart from this world to glorify God and welcome others into relationship with Him.
As we are one with God the Father and Jesus Christ our Savior, we do help others believe. When we came to believe that God sent Jesus for us, we also come to know that God loved us as He loved Jesus as stated in John 17:23, “I am in them, and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” (NLT)
Wow how is that for a thought of the day? God loves us as much as He loves Jesus. Out of our gratitude for this love, we can live to complete the work of the One who loves us and sent us here. We were sent to be instruments so others may come to know God, our Father. LORD, help us make You known.
We do not know how much time we have left. In fact, just after Jesus had prayed with His disciples here in John 17, he left to go into the garden where Judas brought the soldiers to capture Him. If today is our last day, what do we want to be caught doing? The eternal work of our LORD or the work that will soon fade away?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am looking to You now in praise and thanksgiving for the life and death of Jesus Christ in whom I believe. Thank You LORD for also sending us here. Help us to look to You LORD for the work You created for us. Help us welcome others to come and know Jesus and You Father God. Make us one, LORD. In You I have found the perfect peace, and I am praying now to complete the work You have sent me to do. In the name of Jesus Christ our savior I am praying. Amen
