Today’s Scripture: Psalm 73:28, NLT-“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”
Asaph, the writer of Psalm 73, wondered out loud why he should keep doing good. He could not understand why the wicked continued to prosper and be healthy while he had pain and affliction. Why do the wicked not have our problems while scoffing at God? Have you wondered these things?
He said he almost gave up until he went into the sanctuary of God. There he understood what happens at the end of this life. Have you gone into the sanctuary of God? This is going into the Builder and not the building.
Getting near God is where we find the strength of our heart. This where we find God is still holding our hand. Getting near to God, I find the counsel of The Holy Spirit and I learn to desire that which God desires.
Yes, it is good for me to be near God, how about you?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God, thank You allowing me to draw near to You. Forgive me when I compare and desire the riches of the wicked. Only with You do I find Your strength, wisdom and understanding. Only with You can I keep my feet and my heart secure. You are the strength of my heart and I love being near You and confess my needs and thanksgivings to you. It is so good to be near You God, thank You. Amen
