Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 11:6, NKJV- “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
We must diligently seek what we cannot see. As Hebrews 11:3 professes, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” The sacrifice and blood of Jesus welcomed us into a saving redemption that is not worked by human hands.
As Hebrews 10:20 promised “By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.” (NLT) As Hebrews 10:15-16 encourages us, “The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.””
The spirit of faith has been written in our hearts and on our minds. As Paul stated in 2 Corinthians 4:18, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” We must fix our eyes and seek diligently what we cannot see.
The unseen God who created all things and the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead raises us. We were created in the image of the trinity so we were made to seek what the world cannot see. As Hebrews 11:1 states, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” As we diligently seek what we do not see we find hope and rewards only God can provide.
The writer of Hebrews encourages us to mature in our faith. We can taste the goodness of God’s Word as promised in Hebrews 6:5. As we continue to break open the bread of God’s Word and seek His Spirit, we are rewarded with more faith in what we cannot see. Hebrews 11 is filled with examples of how faith has worked in the lives of God’s people. Although they did not receive what they were promised here on earth, they helped us enter into God’s eternal rewards.
We can have faith in Hebrews 11:40, that God has something better for all of us. You and I, along with all these people of the bible, work together to bring God’s perfection we cannot see. As Hebrews 12:2 instructs us, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” Let us diligently seek God, His Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ in the power and hope of His Word.
Will you diligently seek what you cannot see today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for creating us to seek You. Help us to look beyond what we can see to diligently search for what we can only see in You. Grant us maturity in our faith as we look to see Your face. Keep our eyes fixed on Your unseen love, power, and promise. We have faith in You LORD and we are praying to diligently seek You. Thank You for Your heavenly rewards and for those witnesses who have come before us. Amen.
