Today’s Scripture: So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 ESV
This world is always looking for something new. In a business meeting this week I was asked if I had something new. I shocked the prospective clients and myself with my quick and emphatic NO.
Just having something new is not the answer. The renewal we need is found on the inside and not the outside. The heart of the matter is, well, the heart of the matter. We will not find that new thing on the outside.
The answer to life is found on the inside. The Spirit of the living God is the newness of life. The light of the gospel of the glory of Christ is the light that shines into and out of our hearts. This is the light of renewal. It is His light that renews us day by day. If it is our aim to please God we will do what is right and we and others will be renewed.
Where are you seeking renewal?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I praise Your name and welcome Your Spirit of renewal. I am renewed by Your Spirit day by day. Help me to share this light of renewal that you have given me. It is Your light that shines out of darkness. I welcome the light of the gospel of Christ into my inner self so that Your light may shine through me. Amen

Tom thanks for your words today, I know they came from your heart not the outside. See you in the woods soon!!!!! Danny Mc
Thanks brother Danny. I am in the woods now…aaaahhhhh…work has been killing and I appreciate the opportunity to commune with God in His nature. I will see you soon!
Oh Tom, God bless you! I’m laughing with respect, truly–at your emphatic NO. This is a great post as always–you’re so right that the answer is not something “new”. Change, yes–but changes in our inner being are effected by the Holy Spirit, God’s grace, and a refreshed hunger for more of His Word. Well, that’s my summation of recent experience, anyway. Bless you BIG–love, sis C
Ha, Sis thank you…it surprised even me:) The Principal said, well at least you are honest…”new” is an easy target..but without the true spirit being inspired the new thing will bring the same ole results…I love your statement..”refreshed hunger”. BIG blessings.
I think you have it right Tom. So often we try to conjure up newness or freshness in our own strength when what we should be doing is seeking God through the tried and true disciplines. Then when we have done our familiar work God is free to do anew work in our lives.
Great point Joseph, keep what has already been commanded and find out what His Spirit will do! Blessings and discipline.
Yes indeed!
I loved this too Tom, and your NO answer at the meeting! :). So so thankful that I don’t have to come up with something new but just let God renew me! What a blessing you are !
Thank you Deb, there is nothing like renewal of the spirit. When the Spirit renews we are truly renewed. Blessings and renewal.
