Today’s Scripture: Genesis 5:24 ESV: Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
Almost hidden among the lineage verses in Genesis 5 we were told in verses 22 and 24 that Enoch walked with God.
I originally captured an affirmation over four years ago based on Genesis 6:9 where we were told Noah walked with God. Interestingly and honestly I wrote the affirmation “I desire to walk with God.” I knew I wasn’t but I affirmed to.
I have learned that walking with God requires faith; not desire or affirmation.
Desire presents a future hope, a future walk. Faith allows us to walk NOW, today. Enoch and Noah didn’t desire to walk with God, they did. I boldly proclaim today that I walk with God. Only God and complete faith in Him makes this happen. In faith and in walking with God we experience His pleasure.
Just as Noah, we find favor in the eyes of God. Will you walk with God today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God I believe in You. I have faith in You over all things. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your teachers that draw Your Word out to us. Thank You for Your servants who walked with you and showed us the way.
LORD, I walk with You. I trust You in this walk and do not lean on my understanding or my desires. I walk with You. Amen
