Today’s Scripture: Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 ESV
Who else, besides the LORD can we trust? How has trusting in yourself or others worked out for you? Since I know I can not trust myself I know I must place all of my trust in the LORD. The second part of Proverbs 3:5 is tough for us. We tend to think our current understanding is correct.
We can not trust our own understanding. We do not have supernatural understanding that is possessed by the LORD. The LORD and His Wisdom shared in Proverbs 3 bring us life. Only in Him can we turn away from evil. Our limited understanding can take us down paths we should not go. In 3:6 we are promised that the LORD will make all our paths straight.
We are called to embrace Wisdom here in chapter three and promised that all of her ways are pleasant and peaceful. Wisdom will keep us safe from ourselves and the world if we place all our trust in the LORD. We are told to write His kindness and truth on the tablets of our hearts. What ways do you write this on your heart?
Today’s Prayer: LORD thank You for Your gift of Wisdom. I place all my trust in You LORD and search for You and Your wisdom. Guide me today in Your ways and along Your paths. Keep me safe from myself. Help me to write Your words upon my heart so that You fill me with Your understanding and Your Wisdom. Please keep Your love and faithfulness with me at all times. LORD I trust in You and need Your help in filling all my heart. Amen

This is one of those “my head says one thing but my heart struggles to do it” proverbs. Thanks for the reminder Tom.

Thanks for dropping in Bill. Yes kind of like a paradox you refer to on your blog today. To find understanding we must humbly lose our understanding.

Trusting in God…some days, is like stepping off the edge of a grand-canyon size drop off…He’s always there. Always.
But I never see that until I take the first step.
I’m learning.

I am learning too and the more I can’t trust myself the easier it gets to trust Him!
