Today’s Scripture: And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” Luke 22:35 ESV
God knows we need to be reminded that we have enough.
In the context of Luke 22, Jesus is reminding the disciples of how they were sent out with “nothing” when Jesus sent them out in Luke 9 to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. If we are going out proclaiming the kingdom of God we have enough to heal others. We lack nothing.
This verse was immediately after Jesus told Peter he would deny Him three times. He knew Peter would have to come back to this promise when his faith would be shaken. Later in Luke 22:38 Jesus tells the disciples “it is enough”. He knew what they would need.
What Jesus knows and we forget is that we only need to be armed with Christ. As we go with Christ we have enough and lack nothing to offer the kingdom of God and healing.
You have enough and lack nothing; go and offer healing.
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for the life and way of Jesus. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who reminds us of everything He has said to us. Remind us LORD that we have enough and that we lack nothing when our fleshly faith is shaken. Like Jesus we do come to know that in our poverty we find riches. Thank you for providing all that we need. Amen
