Today’s Scripture: Mark 12:44 NIV: They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything–all she had to live on.”
Everything- ALL; I like how the NIV makes this emphasis in the story of the poor widow who gave out of her poverty. We can say we give God everything but is it really our ALL? How can a three letter word be so huge?
Are you broke? Broken? There is poverty in both the material and spiritual sense. Jesus was making these distinctions as He was addressed by the church leaders with their technicalities and trick questions. We cannot hold onto a part of our understanding or a part of our lives. To find the fullness of God we must give Him everything-all.
Jesus stressed “all” in Mark 12:30: “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”
Holding on to a portion exhausts me. Giving everything-all to God gives me rest.
Will you give God everything-all?
Today’s Prayer: Father, I am giving You everything-all. Forgive me Father for my holding on to anything else. I find You LORD in everything. I lose sight of You in the little I hold on to. LORD, I lay everything I have, all that I am before You. Please take it all LORD. All I want is You and Your will to be done. Amen
