Today’s Scripture: Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last. Luke 23:46 NLT
Words fail to bring light to this darkened day. Darkness had fallen across the whole land and it was noon. We can not draw a comparison into our lives as to the pain and anguish Jesus must have felt in these last moments of His earthly experience. The self sacrifice not to rain down a thousand angels to silence those who mocked Him and showed the calluses of evil hearts is beyond my fleshly understanding.
Then again Jesus showed it isn’t about the flesh didn’t He? Although in the flesh he felt forsaken, He knew this hour would come; painful and dark, but it had to come. Having the heart to forgive those with no hearts and forgiving their inability to understand Jesus still accepted the will of God. Jesus had a spirit beyond our comprehension. He totally entrusted this spirit into the hands of God.
John said that Jesus bowed His head and gave up His spirit. I can not understand but can I do any less? Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands.
Today’s Prayer: Father, I am humbled by Your greatness. I can not understand Your amazing love for us. Forgive me when I lose sight of why I am here. Thank You for the life and death of Jesus. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for the spirit You have placed in me. To You Father I offer up my spirit and trust you do what you will. Amen
