Scripture Reference: Colossians 2:13, NLT- “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.”
Just as our eyes cannot see the invisible our minds cannot conceive of the Trinity. Colossians 1:15 teaches us that “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,” (NLT)
To have a prayer of understanding this we must pray as Paul did in Colossians 1:9, “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,” (NIV)
We must continually ask God to fill us with the knowledge of His will through His Holy Spirit. We need God and His Spirit to guide us to Christ because we humans have the tendency to believe that the world was created for and revolves around us.
However, in Colossians 1:16-17, Paul tells us, “For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (BSB) So, even in the times when we cannot see or even keep things together, we can pray that the Spirit of God reminds us of who Jesus is and who we are in Him.
The crucifixion of Jesus made it possible for us to be presented before God as holy, unblemished, and blameless. ( Colossians 1:22, BLB) Because of what Jesus did for us, we too can be servants of the gospel as Paul confessed he had become in Colossians 1:23.
Colossians 2:9-10 also reminds us that in Jesus, all the fullness of God dwelled in bodily form and that in Him we have been brought to fullness as well. That my friends is being made alive when we live as a servant of God and help others also know that Jesus died for them and they are now known by God as holy, unblemished, and blameless.
Can it be hard to believe? Yes, but we can live in the fullness of God because of the fullness of Jesus’ gift for us. In Christ we are truly made alive.
Prayer: Almighty Father, thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ. I believe and accept that His life, death, and resurrection made me holy, unblemished, and blameless in Your eyes. I am asking for Your Spirit, LORD, to fill me with the knowledge of Your will and the power to be Your servant. May my life serve to bring others to be made alive in Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, I am praying. Amen.
