Today’s Scripture: Malachi 3:16, NKJV- “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name.”
When we know the LORD is listening and hearing our conversations do we speak more carefully? We are recognizing that our cellular phones are listening to us, don’t we? We can mention a product or service and surprisingly we receive advertisements for those types of products and services.
Malachi 3:16 says when those who feared the LORD spoke to one another that the LORD listened and heard. The more we speak of our love, awe, and respect for the LORD the more we recognize when He surprisingly shows up. I have found in my life that the more I meditate on His name, the more He speaks and the more He has assured me He is listening and hearing.
I now believe that God guides our meditations and prayers. The most random of thoughts simply show up during our times with God. Yet, when combined with bible reading it is awe-inspiring when we find that God’s Word speaks specifically to our randomness.
God’s presence is not random. God knows our hearts. If we fear and honor God in our conversations, not only does He listen and hear us, but He sees us as His treasured possessions and as His jewels. In Malachi 3:17 states, “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.”
Why do we need sparing? Malachi 4:1 states “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.” (NIV)
Let us talk together about our fear and reverence of the LORD. LORD, we do fear and revere You. We do not need to waste time talking about evildoers. God will oversee judgment. Thank you, LORD, for Your promise in Malachi 4:2 where You tell us, “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.” In fact, during this writing, I was called outside to witness the beautiful sunrise for today. I am thankful to feel His healing rays!
When we remember the LORD and praise and thank Him for His gift of this new day, He heals us with joy, hope, and mercy that His Word promises are new every day. It does lift our spirits to go out and frolic! Thank You LORD Almighty for my brothers and sisters where we can continue to remember and talk about Your laws and love. We fear only You today.
Thank You LORD for listening and hearing us.
Today’s Prayer: Thank You LORD Almighty for Your creation and love for us. We are lifting our voices now together and confessing that we fear Your name above all things. You are our LORD, our creator and sustainer. We will continue to remember Your laws and decrees. Prepare our hearts, LORD, for the day of Your return. Thank You for being with us, listening, and hearing us now. Turn our hearts, minds, souls, and tongues towards You. Amen.
