Today’s Scripture: Matthew 10:19-20, NKJV- “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”
When we just do not know what to say that is one of our first experiences in trusting God and His Spirit. This is where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. We all have conversations with family, friends, co-workers, and others where we just do not know what to say.
We must throw our hands, hearts, tongues, and cares up in the air and trust the Spirit of God to speak. As Jesus was sending out His disciples, He taught them to not worry about how and what to speak when they were confronted or brought before judges. They were to trust that the Spirit of their Father would speak.
We too must stop over-thinking and worrying about what and how we will speak. Jesus did not even instruct the disciples to stop, pray, and ask the Holy Spirit to speak, He said it will be the Spirit of our Father who speaks in us. Our only responsibility in this scenario is to not worry.
Jesus is assuring us that God is our defender and protector. We know it is easier said than done but we must trust that the Holy Spirit will speak. LORD, I am trusting You to speak as I do now know what to say. Speak now Spirit of God.
We must trust whether it is the words coming out of our mouths or the words entering the ears of others, that the message of God is being transferred. LORD, I am trusting You and Your Spirit to speak as I do not know what to say.
Thank You Holy Spirit for speaking.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am confessing that I do not know what to say. I am trusting You Father God and the promises of Jesus Christ that Your Spirit will speak. Thank You LORD for loving us and protecting us. Thank You for the life of Jesus that continues to teach us. Speak LORD before our accusers and all others. You Holy Spirit are our voice. Speak Holy Spirit of God in me. In the name of Jesus, we are praying. Amen.
