Today’s Scripture: Romans 13:10, NKJV- “Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
We complicate the laws of God. We struggle to even recall the ten laws of Moses. Can you name them? Paul simplified the fulfillment of the law to us in one word. LOVE. When we are faced with confusion or lack of understanding we can always choose love.
Romans 14:1 states, “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.” (NIV) When we have conversations with those who do not believe, yet, what is the best response to them? Love.
As Romans 14:4 asks, “Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.” In John 3:16, we are told “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJB)
God did not wait or even expect us to understand. He loved us first. He sent Jesus to teach us how to fulfill His law. Those that did not understand in Jesus’ day crucified Him. What they did not understand, at the time, was they were simply making Him the ultimate sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins.
Even those of us who accept the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus do not understand all things, yet we can receive this love from God and His Son. Out of our gratitude and thanksgiving that we have received love we can offer love to others. As Romans 14:9 states, “Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.”
We can trust the LORD and His Word that states in Romans 14:11, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.” The following verse Romans 14:12 promises “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” (NIV) I am praying that when I am called to give an account to God, that I can simply say thank You LORD for Your love. I love You LORD and I pray I have given You glory by loving all others.
We are called to build others up as Paul encourages us in Romans 15:2. Instead of judging others we can accept them where they are so that we can live out Romans 15:7, “Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory.”
Will you simply love all others today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, on the day I will give You an accounting of my life, I pray that I praise You for Your love, I proclaim my love for You, and I am praying to have been faithful in fulfilling Your law by loving all others. Father God, I trust You to judge all of us and I trust You to give us the Spirit and love of Jesus so we can sacrificially love all others for Your glory. In Your Holy name and in the love of Jesus we do pray, Amen.
