Today’s Scripture: Mark 12:29-30, NKJV- “Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
Jesus came to show us how to keep things simple. Simply know there in one LORD and God. For most of my life I have overlooked Mark 12:29. Jesus made a point to begin his answer of the most important commandment with this statement. Let’s be clear here. There is but one God.
Simply know we must give this God all. We sure have a way of complicating and overthinking things, don’t we? There is one God. Humankind has created many. We are to give the one true God all.
All is all. All isn’t sometimes, somethings, or a percentage. We make what sounds so simple, very difficult. But is also a three-letter word that we have thrown in the mix. I would give God my all but…We must make God number one in all.
We do not have to divide our love. We just need to include God in all our love. Because of God we can love. Do we include God in our day to day lives? Is God number one in our works? Is there one God in our relationships?
In Mark 12:31, Jesus made it a point to include our love for all others stem from our Love of God. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves. There is but one love. Love is not on a sliding or ranking scale. We are to have one love and it comes from God. Life is all about love.
Love should be what gets us in the morning. Love should be our motivation for all our activities. Love is our why. We rise and give out of our love for God and others. Does all your love come from the one true God?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God, I accept that You are the one true God and I thank You for loving me. LORD, forgive me for when I put other loves before You. I thank You for being the one that created me to love You and others. Help me to love all others with Your love. Thank You for providing others who love. Help me LORD to love as You created me to love. Thank You for Jesus who came to teach us and for Your Holy Spirit who continues to teach and guide our love today. I love you. Amen.
