Share the post "I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever."
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 145:1, NIV- “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.”
God’s words are better than our words. My first affirmation this morning was from Psalm 145:21, the last verse of Psalm 145. I captured “My mouth is praising the LORD” from the NIV translation which states, “My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.”
Let us praise God’s holy name! I am praying our lives praise Him in not only what we say but who we are. The creatures of God’s creation praising Him by simply being who He created them to be. Think of the wonders of nature that praise God without uttering a single word.
Yet, we have been blessed by God and His goodness and we have been granted the ability and opportunity to praise His name for ever and ever. As I was reading backwards from the twenty-first verse of Psalm 145, I was overwhelmed by the goodness of God.
This affirmatic way of reading scripture that God has given me brings out my praises and love for him more and more. Psalm 145:20, NIV is “The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.” At first, I captured the affirmation “Thank You LORD for watching over me.”
Then my spirit noticed who the verse says He watches over, all who love him. Then I felt compelled to say, “I love You LORD.” Continuing to read backwards Psalm 145:19 states “He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.” Do you feel your praises and love grow as you thank the LORD for hearing our cries and saving us?
Keep reading. Psalm 145:18, NIV- “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Thank You LORD for being near when we call on you! Checking into what calling on God “in truth” means, when our hearts are sincerely calling out to our God.
As David shares in Psalm145:11, we can all speak of the glory of God’s kingdom and give examples of His power. We can open our mouths and testify of how we have seen God’s kingdom and experienced His power! Because as Psalm 145:9 states, “The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.” (NLT)
Thank You LORD for being so good to us, we are praising You! As we tell our stories of how God has been so good to us, we are doing as Psalm 145:4 encourages us that our generation will praise God for the generations to come. Psalm 145:3 proves that we can experience what David was as he scripted this Psalm. “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.”
There are simply no words to describe the greatness of God. There is no end to His greatness or the power of His Word. As Psalm 145:2 encourages us, let us fill our mouths with praise for our God every day. Let us praise God, our king, forever and ever.
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, we are praising You now. Thank You for Your goodness to us. Fill our lives and mouths with praises for all generations. We thank You LORD for those who sang Your praises for us, and we are praying to be faithful in extoling You day after day so all others may know the truth of Your love. Amen.
