Today’s Scripture: Luke 13:9 ESV: Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.
I bear fruit. Even the tree that was given up on can bear fruit. What will it take? Some digging around the roots and a heavy dose of manure will be made available. My hope is in the wisdom of the vinedresser, the master gardener.
The assistance and action of the gardener can bring hope and fruit. No digging and no manure will lead to a cut down dead tree. Staying the course on nothing leads to nothing.
When we seek the kingdom of God, we are told here in Luke 13 what that is like; a mustard seed that grows into a tree. Tending to the soil and planting the seeds of the kingdom provide branches that provide support and fruit.
I have asked the Master Gardner to tend to my roots in the soil that has been provided. On my own, I will die, with His help I bear fruit.
What fruit do you bear?
Today’s Prayer: Father, thank You for pruning me and for providing the Holy Spirit to prepare my roots. LORD in Your soil and in Your kingdom I know You provide the nutrients to bear Your fruit. LORD I pray Your seed grows into a mighty tree providing branches that support others and feeds many. Amen
