Share the post "I am thankful that the Lord knows how to deliver us from our temptations."
Today’s Scripture: 2 Peter 2:9, NKJV- “then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,”
Peter says here, God KNOWS how to rescue us. Why do we keep devising ways to stop our evil ways on our own? Those things that tempt each of us; yours are different than mine but no one goes without facing their personal demons.
The Lord’s Prayer, the model given by Jesus Himself says. “Deliver us from evil.” There was no mention that “if” you have evil do your best. It is a given we all face evil, and we should ask God to deliver us. Our Father who art in heaven can deliver us from evil. Some have great will power to overcome. Some of us are weak.
We attempt to white knuckle it and do our best to stop those things that tempt us. Instead, we can ask God because He already knows how. Step number one for us who have addictions says we must first admit we are powerless over our addictions and step two is to come to believe that a power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.
- Do you have any hurts, habits, or hang ups that you struggle with today that you have tried to overcome on your own?
- Do you believe that God already knows you and your needs?
- Have you asked God to deliver you with the faith that He will?
- Can you ask God to guide you to godliness?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for knowing what we need before we even ask. Yet, I will continue to ask as Jesus taught me. Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
