Today’s Scripture: Galatians 1:10, KJB- “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
As a recovering people pleaser, Galatians 1 always reminds me of who I should allow to define me. In Galatians 1:1, Paul makes it clear who defined who he was and who we should be. Galatians 1:1, NLT- “This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead.”
As we go about our business today and enter this world, who appointed us? Are we living to please others? Do we allow our business or any other opinions of humankind to define us? As we live to please God we become servants of Christ.
I am compelled to encourage you and all others to get to know who God defines us to be. I have become convinced that we find who God desires us to be in His Word and through personal revelation. We find this revelation by looking to God and Jesus Christ.
Can we pause now and lift our lives to God the Father and offer who we are in servanthood to the Christ? Lord Jesus, I am here to serve You and I am defined by You alone. Fill me with Your Spirit so I encourage others to live in service to You. Amen.
In Galatians 1:3, Paul offered grace and peace to the Galatians, and this is exactly what we find when we live to please God and Jesus Christ. Through the grace of Jesus Christ, we find peace that no person can provide. Galatians 1:4 states that Jesus “gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,” (NIV) Jesus is still our only rescue from this present evil age.
Although Jesus alone gives us grace over our sins, we do become a part of His rescue plan in our evil age. As we live and share the grace we have received, our purpose and passion to help others receive the same rescue and grace becomes what drives our days and defines who we are.
We are so much more in Christ. I am praying now that God will use you and me for His glory forever and ever. May we leave the legacy of who we serve. As Paul stated in Galatian 1:11 the gospel we preach is the same gospel he brought to us, and it does not come from human origins. We are yet humans but the gospel in us is of Jesus Christ and God the Father.
Living out the gospel of Jesus Christ daily lifts others to live with and for Him. God uses our stories as He does Paul’s. In Galatians 1:13, Paul is confessing and recalling who he was before Christ and how he persecuted the church and tried to destroy it. God used Paul mightily and He can do the same with us.
Like Paul, You and I have been set apart from all other humans and we do not need to consult with any flesh and blood. We have a job to do. God and Jesus will use our pasts and our current efforts to share Christ to bring Him glory forever and ever.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for defining who we are. I am praying now that You will be glorified in who we are in Christ. LORD, we have been appointed by You to bring Your grace and peace to others. Help us to live for You and continue to seek who we are in You so others too will find Your appointment for them. Here I am LORD, use me for Your glory forever and ever. Amen.
