Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 4:12, NKJV- “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Our hearts, minds, and souls need something living and powerful to be poured into us, at times, don’t we? We need to place and receive our hope in a living and powerful God. As stated in Romans 5:5, NKJV, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Let’s be honest, at times we are empty, aren’t we? But praise be to God, all things are not up to or in us without Him. Are you as thankful as I am that the God of the universe pours His love into our hearts? I am thankful the Holy Spirit was given to us for such moments when we need it most. We cannot generate the right kinds of love and power on our own strength.
We need the Holy Spirit and God to pour into us and pierce us. Come Holy Spirit for I am empty. Fill me with Your love, pierce my heart. Come Holy Spirit and pierce my innermost parts where it has been promised you can divide my soul and spirit. This I cannot understand nor do on my own, but I am trusting and thankful that You can.
Paul had been pierced and knew how You can grant us perseverance through our sufferings and how we learn Your character and hope as written in Romans 5:3-4. We can learn to live with God’s character. However, to maintain His character we must rely on His living and powerful words to continually pierce our souls. To live in the rest and power of God we need the revelation of His Holy Spirit.
God’s love and hope can be poured into us by His Holy Spirit at the right time. We do need to open our hearts, minds, spirit, and souls to welcome God, His word, and His Spirit. In these moments where we must persevere, we do find God if we seek and trust Him. Just as we do not understand how He can divide our soul and spirit, bone, and marrow; we must only receive that He can and will.
As we cry out and wait on God and His Holy Spirit, we can trust that nothing we are facing is hidden from God as is promised in Hebrew 4:13. He sees, He knows, and He is entering our circumstances and hearts. We can know as Paul did that, we will receive God’s mercy and grace in our times of need as promised in Hebrews 4:16. Are you welcoming God and His Spirit into your times of need?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, I am welcoming Your power, word, and Spirit now. Thank You LORD for helping us persevere in our sufferings. Teach us Your character LORD and fill us with Your hope and Spirit. Pierce me Father God. Thank You for the example of Your Son, Jesus, who knows our sufferings. We approach Your throne with confidence in Jesus and Your Holy Spirit welcoming the mercy and grace You offer to us. Amen.
