Today’s Scripture: Psalm 147:11, NKJV- “The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.”
In every generation is seems that the chasm is growing between right and wrong, left and right, and good and evil. Although we do not have many Christians’ fighting to the death in colosseums or being fed to the lions for sport, but we all know there is a divide.
Both sides of every occasion think the other side is evil. I am choosing what God’s Word is saying is His side. I only fear the LORD and all my hope is in His mercy as Psalm 147:11 encourages us. We look with sadness at the shape of this world, but this is nothing new. Particularly during election seasons when the evil and deception of humankind are at their highest.
Shallow and even false promises abound. Thankfully so do the pleasures and hopes of our LORD. There are some who do not even believe in God, some who believe in a God of their own making, and those who fear the God of Israel, and there are many other gods in between.
I am seeking the pleasure of The LORD of the bible. In Him do I fear and hope. As Psalm 147:13-14 make clear, it is the LORD who makes our borders secure and blesses the children inside of our walls. It is honestly sad to me to see so many people fear what humankind can do and seek hope in other people.
The crowds chose Barrabas over Jesus then and they still would today. No worries, our LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him. I am choosing to only fear Him and not what man can do to us. As Psalm 147:12 declares we can choose to praise the LORD and praise our God. He alone is worthy of our praise.
We certainly are not worthy. We all fail to possess the goodness of God. As Psalm 147:7 encourages us we shall “Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:” (KJV) Ok, most of us are running short of harps but we are not lacking in our abilities to sing our praises and thanksgivings to our LORD.
Let us humble ourselves before the LORD and remind each other that “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” Psalm 147:5, KJV. As Psalm 147:3 promises God still heals the broken hearted and binds up the wounded. Regardless of what humanity tears apart our God is the one who builds up. Let us only fear Him and keep our hope in Him.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, we are praising You! You are our LORD, and we only fear You and place our hope in You. Thank You LORD for taking pleasure in Your children. Protect us LORD. Encourage us LORD to live for and with You. We pray now for all people to look towards You and to find Your love. We live today in the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and pray all others turn to Him. In the name of Jesus Christ, we do pray. Amen.
