Share the post "Father God, I am looking into Your perfect law, remembering it, and asking for Your help to do it."
Today’s Scripture: James 1:25, NIV- “But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”
God’s Word blesses me. I have found that the more I have looked into the perfect law of God the more freedom I have experienced. If we want the blessings of God we just need to show up and do the next right thing. God’s Word is timely and teaches us what to do.
Without God’s law, we do what we want to do. When we do what we want to do we end up enslaved to our flesh and the imperfect laws of humankind. We are challenged in James 1:25 to look intently into God’s laws so we experience the freedom and blessings of God.
I am continually amazed at the timing of God’s Word. I have come to expect God’s Word to speak directly into my current prayers and life. God’s laws direct me and teach me. The more consistently I look into His perfect law the more perfect I realize it is. Day after day I remember more of His laws and day after day I am learning to do it.
The more time we spend looking into God’s word the deeper it gets implanted into our minds and souls. We recall what we have read in God’s perfect timing. James 1:14 states that each one of us are drawn away from God with our own desires and lusts. When we look more into our desires than God’s laws the more, we fall into sin and these sins lead to death of our faith.
However, the more we look into God’s laws the more we recognize and experience that every good and perfect gift comes from our heavenly father as James 1:17 promises. We must continually look into God’s laws because we are also continually drawn away. James 1:21 instructs us to lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and to receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save our souls.
We receive practical advice in God’s word. James 1:19 instructs each of us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. We need to turn to God’s word with those things that make us angry, and the perfect law of God will bless us as we do it.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for all of your good and perfect gifts to us. I am praising and thanking You for your light and laws that direct us. Draw me into Your Word and draw me into Your actions. Help me LORD to do Your will. Protect me from my own desires and lusts that may draw me away from You. Draw me close LORD and help me to do Your perfect laws. Thank You for saving my soul. Amen.
