Today’s Scripture: Mark 1:17 ESV And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
We can make following Jesus hard, can’t we? Jesus did NOT say to Simon and Andrew: Ok, go figure out what to do and try to be who I want you to be. He said “Follow me and I will MAKE you become.
With one hand still on my nets and trying not to lose sight of Jesus I spend too much time trying to figure out what to do to follow Jesus.
What?? It is clearly NOT what I can make and become. Jesus said follow me and I WILL MAKE YOU BECOME. As we follow Jesus with ALL of our hearts, minds and souls HE makes us and we BECOME who He desires.
It did not make worldly sense when Simon and Andrew did it and it will not make sense today. But, this day I have decided to follow Jesus.
Will you drop your nets and follow Jesus?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank you for calling me to follow you. I am sorry I continue to reach back and hold onto my nets. Please forgive me. I am following You so please stay in my sight and make me become who You desire. I trust you to care for me and my family and I place us in Your care. Please slow down a bit so I may catch up. I am trusting You with this life. Amen
