He is here you know. Can you sense it? Do you know it? More importantly do you know Him?
If we don’t know Him is it because He is not here? For two days it has been resounding in my head that God is with us. For today’s affirmation I wanted to personalize it and remind us to say that “God is with me”. Each day I want to remind myself that God is with me. For real, in an intimate and personal way.
But, this God is too big for this to be a “me” statement. As the angel of the Lord said to Joseph in Matthew 1:23:
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” (NKJ)
Over two thousand years ago God came to be with us. God is with us. God is with us just as He was with Joseph and Mary and the people of that day. Many of them were too busy to notice, are we? I am, at times, too busy to remember that God is with me. I know it but I don’t know it. How can I forget? How can we forget? God is with us.
Because we turn away does it mean He is not there? Because we do not believe does it mean it is not so? It is so, God is with us.
Isaiah foretold of Jesus’ birth 700 years before the birth as stated in Isaiah 9:6:
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NKJ)
Isaiah tells us about the people in Isaiah 9:13: …”Nor do they seek the LORD of hosts. “700 years plus 2000 years and we haven’t changed much, have we? Because we do not seek Him does that make Him not be there?
The Good news is that He is here, at the ready and He lives inside of us. Have no doubt Jesus did come just as foretold to Joseph by His angel. He was born, He lived, He was crucified and He did rise again. He did and He is.
Before Jesus went to sit with the Father He promised He would still be with us in the person of the Holy Spirit. He told us in John 16:7:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. (NKJ)
We were promised the helper, the comforter. Have you felt it? He is here just as He promised. Just as He types this message and just as real as your very breath, His is here. Have no doubt. Do you doubt your last breath? Although your thoughts have wandered from your last breath that does not mean it did not, does not exist. It is still here and has helped to sustain you whether you are vaguely or keenly aware. He is.
Praise the Lord God Almighty, the One that was and is to come. He is Immanuel, “God with us”. Have no doubt; be comforted but also do not be unaware. May we seek Him with all our hearts and be comforted. May we honor Him and share His good news. God is great, God is Good, God is; today, tomorrow and forever. Holy Spirit guide us, help us, love us so we may show this love to all mankind. We love, we are, because He is.
Yes, God is with us.
