Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:9, NLT- “In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.”
Life has a way of teaching us we can only rely on God. At some point we find we are incapable. We come to know that human capabilities are limited. In fact, in recovery, we learn we must come to a place where we know and not just believe that a power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.
Do you have the capability to raise someone from the dead? In this verse, we are reminded that God can and has done this. Why wouldn’t we choose to rely on God instead of weak, feeble, and less than trustworthy flesh?
It is our nature to exhaust all options. We learn the hard way but we do learn. When we reach a point where we face a decision or a difficulty that we cannot solve we look to God. When we choose to trust and rely on God we find a patient endurance in an unshakable hope.
Have you learned to rely on God?
Today’s Prayer: Thank You Father God for Your faithfulness. Thank You for welcoming me into Your loving arms although I have sought love and strength elsewhere. I know now Father, I can only rely on You. Thank You for placing within me Your Spirit as a guarantee. Help me to continue to grow and mature in my reliance on You and to live fully to offer Your reliance to a hurting world let down by what they sought to rely on. You are our rock and our salvation. In You alone I trust. Amen
