Today’s Scripture: Ecclesiastes 5:18, NASB-“Here is what I have seen to be good and fitting: to eat, to drink, and enjoy oneself in all one’s labor in which he labors under the sun during the few years of his life which God has given him; for this is his reward.”
I am guilty of being too concerned with money. I have put off meaningful works while working for the “security” of money. Ecclesiastes is beating me over the head this morning. Ecclesiastes 5:10, NIV states “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.”
I hear you LORD; I am to seek meaning over money. Here in Ecclesiastes 5:18 I am told to enjoy the fruits of my labor as God has only given me so many days to live. Do I want to spend those days chasing money or pursuing the meaningful work God created me to do? Is my trust in God and His plans or the security of money?
These verses are also where we are reminded that we entered this world with nothing and we will exit the same way.
What will we do today to leave meaning?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, Your riches are enough for me. Help me to provide an abundance of meaning today to the lives of others. As my days expire, I am praying that new life will continue to be filled with meaning. LORD, thank You for the wealth You have given to me. I am accepting of my lot. I am also encouraged and grateful to live a life of meaning. Thank You Father for the many gifts You have given to me. Thank You LORD for keeping me busy with the joy in my work and my works so I live in meaningful enjoyment and thanksgiving. Amen
